Invisalign: A Clear Choice For Straight Teeth | Billings, MT

  • December 5, 2015

Could straighter teeth help you get a new job?

A lot of people think so. Discovery.com reported that a recent survey of more than 1,000 people showed that most people believe someone who has straight teeth is more likely to get a job than someone with crooked teeth. The same survey found that straight teeth make you appear wealthier and more successful.

While straight teeth don’t make you smarter or more qualified, they may help you feel more confident.

If you have crooked teeth, you might feel more self-conscious. You may be more concerned about smiling or even speaking out of fear that other people will judge you by your teeth.

If you would like straighter teeth, Legacy Smiles can help with Invisalign clear braces.

A clear choice

Once upon a time, orthodontic treatment was considered a rite of passage for teenagers. Today, orthodontic care has become more common for people of all ages.

Even so, if you are working adult, you may not feel comfortable wearing metal braces every day for the next two years (or longer).

Yes, braces will give you straight teeth, but that doesn’t mean you want to draw more attention to your mouth.

You can’t hide the fact that you have pieces of metal attached to your teeth. You also can’t hide the wire that runs between the brackets, since that’s part of how braces work.

With Invisalign, you can get the same result — straight teeth — without the worries you may have about wearing braces.

Invisalign is sometimes referred to as clear braces, but that’s a bit of a misnomer. Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners to change the position of your teeth.

When you have the aligners, most people won’t know you are wearing them unless you tell them or take the aligner out in front of them.

That’s only one of the advantages of using Invisalign instead of braces. Keep reading to learn more.

Better than braces?

Well, that depends on what you consider better. We can explain some of the advantages of using Invisalign when compared to traditional braces. Both with give you straight teeth, just in different ways.

Here are some of those differences:

  • Invisalign works faster than braces.

We already mentioned that braces take around two years to completely straighten your teeth. The brackets and wires work well for all kinds of patients with all kinds of misalignment problems.

Invisalign can fix most teeth alignment problems, too, but it only takes about a year for Invisalign to finish the job.

  • Invisalign is comfortable.

There’s no getting around brackets and wires. There’s also no getting around the fact that they can scratch the inside of your lips and teeth. Hopefully, your wire won’t come loose and poke your cheeks and gums.

The Invisalign plastic aligners are made of smooth plastic. There are no edges and nothing to come loose. They fit over your teeth, and they aren’t going to poke or scratch the inside of your mouth.

And we haven’t mentioned the visits to the dentist to adjust (that is to tighten) your braces. This is something you will feel each time it happens.

With Invisalign, every two weeks or so, you replace one plastic aligner with a new one. That’s it. Every time you change aligners, you’ll know that your teeth are closer to being straight.

  • Invisalign is convenient.

Braces are just there on your teeth … all the time … until you are completely finished with your treatment. You can’t take them off when they are uncomfortable.

You have to change your diet, and you may have to give up some of your favorite foods (chips, hard cookies, popcorn, just to name a few things) until your braces come off.

Plus, you have to brush your teeth every single time you eat. You also have to learn to brush your teeth differently. Flossing isn’t possible because of the wire, so you will need special tools to clean between your teeth and gums.

With Invisalign, you don’t have any of those concerns, but you need to wear your clear braces for 22 hours each day for the best results.

That is to say you can take them out for up to two hours per day. That gives you time to take out your aligners while you eat, which means you can eat whatever you like.

You can also take out your aligners during your oral hygiene routine. You can brush and floss like you do now. You just have to remember to clean your aligner, too.

Seeing clearly

Invisalign clear braces are fast (12 months), effective, convenient, comfortable, and clear. They are a great treatment option for working adults who don’t want to call attention to their orthodontics.
